Need Help for Extracurriculars!
Answered

I'm going into second semester of Junior year, and I feel my EC's are very lackluster. All I have is minimal volunteer hours at a nursing home, HOSA member for 2 years, Swimming and Diving for 2 years (vars 1 year, but got cut this year due to management shift), one volunteer event for health and fitness club, NHS, and I joined MUN this year. I have a 4.0+ GPA and a 1430 on the SAT that I think I can get up to a 1530.

I am interested in medicine, but I have no idea where to start when it comes to applying or starting new EC's. Is it over?

What general location are you based in? (i.e. MA, CT, CA, etc.) --> if you look around there are a lot of local programs for med (i.e. in MA there's TUFTS TUBERS).

I'd say try some research. it's going to be hard bud, but look into cold emailing labs and figuring things out.

it's not over --> you got this. (also college getting into isn't the end of the world!!. if you're into med just get into a premed college and get decent grades in GPA and MCAT. also consider looking into specialized med tracks like SUNY's med tracks)

It’s definitely not over you still have time to strengthen your profile. Focus on quality over quantity: meaningful volunteering, shadowing in medical settings, or leading a club can make a big difference. Your grades and SAT are strong, so adding a few targeted experiences now can really boost your application.
