Answered

I'm a junior studying internationally and will applying to a few colleges in the US. Based on the following overview of my stats, could you please list a few good colleges (public/private) that you think would be targets for me as well as some which would offer good merit scholarships?

Demographics-

-Indian citizen

- Not first gen

- Major: Computer Science (B.S.)

GPA- My school doesn't calculate but I assume an estimate would be around 4.0

SAT- in Dec

Extracurriculars-

- Tutored multiple subjects for the past 3 years

- Elected school Prefect in 8th and 10th grade and Class representative in 9th

- Completed a fair amount of community service at temples

- Won various olympiads mostly centered around math

AP/Honors-

My school doesn't offer any but I will try to take a couple from external institutions in May

- AP Calc BC, AP CS A maybe AP phy mech

I've consistently ranked the highest in my class throughout HS

Would greatly appreciate any help, thanks in advance!

Here's a few options, because I've been looking at colleges too and here's what I found.

PLEASE DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH BEFORE BLINDLY FOLLOWING MY WORDS.

Target or Match Schools:

- University of Wisconsin–Madison – Excellent CS department, good for international ±«ÓăÖ±˛Ą, competitive but attainable

- University of Maryland, College Park – Great CS reputation, strong research and proximity to tech hubs

- University of Massachusetts Amherst – Solid CS program and known for international diversity

- Pennsylvania State University (University Park) – Large alumni network and good research facilities

- University of Minnesota–Twin Cities – Great value for internationals and strong STEM focus

Here are some schools known for merit scholarships

- University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa) – Very generous automatic scholarships for high SAT/ACT scores

- University of Arizona – Merit scholarships available based on GPA/test scores

- University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) – Good scholarships for international ±«ÓăÖ±˛Ą with top grades

- University of Tulsa – Offers full and partial tuition awards for strong international applicants

- Miami University (Ohio) – Known for giving merit aid to high-performing international ±«ÓăÖ±˛Ą

- University of Richmond (VA) – Excellent academics + generous aid (Merit-based & need-blind for internationals)

A few things I would suggest would be to score 1450+ on the SAT to unlock strong merit scholarships, highlighting your math achievements, leadership roles, and tutoring—those build a well-rounded application even without APs from school, and write essays that show initiative and global perspective, since those stand out for international ±«ÓăÖ±˛Ą.

Best of luck!

AGAIN, PLEASE DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH BEFORE BLINDLY FOLLOWING MY WORDS.
